HELP Needed: Meet at Poulsbo Sportsmen's Club?
« on: February 23, 2017, 09:14:40 AM »
Hello people. If you're willing I'd love your assistance. I would like to shoot a handful (4-5 shots) through a chronograph but do not want to have to purchase one at this time.  I'm not a serious handloader, but have come up with an accurate load for my 7mm Rem Mag at 200 yard zero.  The problem is in order to use the BDC Reticles on my scope for 300, 400, 500, and 600 yards, respectively , I need an average Muzzle Velocity to plug into the ballistic trajectory calculator to know the correct magnification setting on my scope for the ballistic reticles (whew!  Long sentence. Sorry).

If any of you shoot at Poulsbo Sportsmen's Club and have a Chrono you wouldn't mind me taking a few shots through, please let me know and I'd be very appreciative to meet you there.

Thankyou in advance.

Jeff

you really don't need chrono, they are not all that accurate. reverse the math , zero at 200 then shoot at 3 and 4, dial in correct distance. if your drop is off, (ie 6 inches lower at 400 and 12 inches at 500,  use these offsets to reverse math back to true muzzle velocity. out to 500 you don't need to be too precise beyond is a different animal.

Poulsbo Sportsman's Club has a chrono. Call and talk to the Range Officer.

 :yeah:

I wish I would have done this before ordering my BDC reticle.  Instead I trusted my chronograph and ended up with my dial set for a slower velocity than my actual load.
