Buddy of mine used to have a .410 Contender pistol... that thing's sole purpose on this earth was dispatching grouse. I could also shoot .45 Long Colt rounds out of it... wouldn't be a bad SHTF kind of weapon.

I use .22 or 20 guage, when I am deer hunting, I use slingshot with buckshot in it.

My dad shot "near" one with his .54 T/C Hawken... missed it by a foot, but the spray from the bullet hitting the ground did the trick. He brought it back, tossed it at me, and said "here ya go, boy. Clean it.". Messy, but tasty!
As for me, I love my 20ga side/side! It's taken many! But the .22, .410, bow, truck, 12ga, have all taken their share as well!
I can't wait for september...

So I ended up purchasing A Mossberg 500c 20Ga pump. Couldn't beat the price for what I looked at. So ready for Sept. Gonna have to get out soon and try it out!!

Use either the mossberg 12 gauge or the 410 or the 22. LIke the 410 because it can be folded up placed in my backpack.

Been wondering if I should buy a different choke for the Mossberg 500c... Any suggestions?

Wildbear

I use an improved cylinder in my 500C for everything including grouse.  Mossberg doesn't make anything more open for the 20, but I've thought about getting an aftermarket one in skeet or just straight cylinder.  For grouse on the wing, you will want as open a choke as you can get.  I've also gotten to using a sling on mine and mossberg sells the posts for really cheap on their website.
