Grouse, Weapon of choice

Alright everyone. With the weather being like it is, I've been thinking of huntin' So ready for Sept. Grouse!! Which brings up some questions I have on weapons... Typically I just shoot them off the roads with my .22
This year I'm looking to start chasing 'em down with my Dog, and need a shot gun. What should I buy, 12g, 20g, 410? Haven't the slightest Idea on them, or the best buy on brand... Any Help would be great!!

A shotgun is a must if you're flushing them with a dog.
I'd go 20 gauge. NEF>

My old 16 gauge single shot or my 17 HMR.
Here is a pic of the 17 HMR aftermath, and a pic of my G.F. with here first grouse, shot with my 16 gauge.

same here, my old H&R 20 single shot that I bought when I was 8. It is way too small for me and has no front bead, but I love it for grouse.

Well, I couldn't decide either so I have a double gun with a .22 on top and a 20 guage shotgun on the bottom barrel. One thing to watch for is legal issues. I think the .22 is illegal or it was. That being said, it's a good caliber to not ruin the bird up close...

The .22 is legal for grouse.

Thanks for the input! Was going to attempt the two for one once, but by the time I got to the other side of the truck for the shot, they walked off in the brush never to be seen again... A damn walk off! Ah hell!!
