PS I'm not bitter or upset about the results either. I wish everyone that was selected good luck. I do think that JWEBB was outright swindled though, he should be entitled to a permit. EVERYONE should get their money back; it was WDFW's decision to go computerized...if the results go up once,  they should stand as-is, not pulled and redistributed. Might be politically incorrect, but where I come from we call that an Indian giver!

Why was he swindled?

He was selected for a permit and then had it STOLEN from him due to a failure of WDFW's computer system, resulting in a re-draw. He was not the only one that experienced the glitch, many had their points mysteriously disappear and reappear later on. I don't know if you're being philosophical with your comment or if you just haven't read the other comments from many other hunters noting the glitches as well...It is clear that this was a system-wide error and WDFW needs to take responsibility, apologize, and issue refunds to ALL applicants. Simple as that.

I was going to stay out of this but I just can't.  I was there at the draw, after the results were posted the first time they saw immediately that 4 people, 2 groups didn't get their points applied to the draw. 4 people affected out of over 4,700 and they found it, they knew the draw had to be 100% correct so quickly pulled the results off. A few hours later, conference calls to Baltimore with people working overtime, they finally got it 100% right for all of us.  Trust me, they will not accept any possibility that any one person gets left out. We saw all the comments on Huntwa, some gave us a good laugh, some showed the frustrations, they understand and were hell bent on getting it right and posted before they went home.  I get the frustrations, I've bitched plenty myself, but I can assure you, they worked very hard to get this done and done right.

But what if one of the five had his permit taken away and given to one of the other five (same thing that happened to JWEBB), does that work for you? No offense but are you a communist?

yes, in order to get those left out they have to run a completely new draw.

You guys kept seeing your numbers change because test draws had to be done to make sure it worked 100%, when it was 100% correct, that was the draw.

I know how it feels, I drew for the alkali quality buck tag back when they had a redraw.  Didn't draw after the redraw, sucked.  You guys that didn't draw, it's probably a good thing, the snow pack this year is huge.

This just blew my mind. How in the F can people be left out of the draw? Can anyone explain this with specifics? What kind of ancient technology/computer program are they using where someone who submitted an application to their database gets left out of a computer generated, algorithm based, randomized draw? Of all states in the West, you'd think Washington would be at the top for technology.

yes, in order to get those left out they have to run a completely new draw.

Thanks for the info, trophyhunt. Confirmed re-draw as we all expected. I suppose I understand the logic to a 100 percent fairness draw, but I still think they should make an exception for the individuals that found out that they were initially chosen, then had their permits revoked (looks like only 1 individual so far). If WDFW is so precise, then results should have never gone out to individual's accounts until they were triple checked and finalized. I still think that a general refund would not be unreasonable at this point...

Calvin makes a good point. They shouldn't have been posted on their site until the results were triple checked. But they definitely did the right thing to do the Redraw to include the missed applications but the fact that there was even missed apps is crazy to me. Typical government sector though. Had this been the private sector and this happened, people would no doubt be losing their jobs. But I would imagine if it was private sector then the draw would've probably been ran within a few days instead of a few weeks. And also accurate the first time.

To confirm, they weren't so much left out, they applied and that showed up but they either didn't pick ghost points or a hunt number, or it just didn't get applied. It really is a complex deal, their determination to get it right was impressive.
