Just talked to wdfw in Olympian for 15 minutes. They informed me that the first draw was done incorrectly leaving out 4 people as trophy hunt had said yesterday. They ran my wild Id number and indeed I was selected the first draw. But since they screwed up and forgot to add 4 people to the draw they took it away and completely re ran the draw. They apologized multiple times and the lady said that the system was working perfect up till the first draw.  She said there is no compensation what so ever for their mistake. Again, I do agree that the draw needs to include everyone to be fair. I am just truly disappointed in the WDFW for allowing this problem to happen in the first place. In no way shape or form should their results be posted to the public until the draw is done right. So after its all said and done I was selected than not selected and now WDFW is not doing a thing to make it right.

Just be glad it's just a bear tag. Last redraw a guy I worked with drew sheep and lost it to the redraw. He never drew again, retired and is dead now. Hopefully this story makes you feel better  :chuckle:

Agreed! Just hope it doesnt happen with my quality elk tag

Hahaha I hear ya!

If JWEBB drew a tag to shoot that bull in his avatar then I cant feel to bad for him. 7 points this year and still nothing, over 70 not selected's for me, 0 selected and I don't put in for OIL tags cause there is a better chance of getting killed by lighting. I was really looking forward to the possibly of not chasing turkeys this year too! Oh well spring bears taste like skunk cabbage anyway.

Most of the time what people are calling a "redraw" is not actually that at all. It would only be a redraw if the WDFW notified the public that the draw was complete and that the results are posted, and then later said oops we made a mistake, we're doing the draw over. There's no reason to expect any kind of compensation, or even an apology, from the WDFW. They did nothing wrong. I do agree it would have been nice to have it done a little sooner but with an entirely new system this year I'd give them a break on that.
At what time did that occur yesterday?

I wouldn't know since I didn't apply. But I see in a post in this thread that an email notification was sent out at 7:40 last night.

I agree it would be better if the preliminary results weren't viewable by the public, until they become official. But the WDFW did the right thing by running the draw again.

I'm betting they didn't expect that they would need to do it a second time and change the results and I'm guessing they weren't happy about it either.

Trust me, they were very concerned and heart broken when they saw that those 4 guys weren't correctly in the drawing, the feeling in the room was extremely low.  But they pulled up their pants and went to work to get it done right.  How many draws have you seen posted after 5pm?  I was wrong earlier in one of my post but I fixed it, it was 4,709 applications in the draw not 7,000 like I said last night, damn celebratory drinks.

There were no "preliminary results" about it; WDFW posted the results out there for all God's creation to see. THEN they realized that THEY screwed up, pulled a re-draw and STOLE permits back from hunters that were already chosen. I understand the "100 percent fairness draw" thing, but how is it fair to have the permits revoked from hunters that were already chosen? Only other "fairness" option I can see is to give the other hunters that were chosen permits as well, or give the four that were left out permits...Seriously, what's four more bear permits in the grand scheme of things?

Another commenter with socialist tendencies? This just gets better and better! So because I made good in the past, means I should get screwed and get stuff taken away from me and given to others?

If your results showed not selected the first time, but then was changed to selected, would you want to give the permit back? Or would you take it?

Sorry man, that's not how it works. No draw results are official until they are declared official by the WDFW. They were not declared official until later in the day. We don't know if it was a re draw or a system test or what. Don't depend on what you see or hear until you receive confirmation for the Dept. is the bottom line.

I am over this situation, but just wanted to make it clear again that I talked to fish and game and it was a draw. Not a test or anything of such nature. 4 hunters were left out so they pulled the draw and did a redraw. Wdfw confirmed this today when I spoke with them. Anyone feel free to call them. They apologized and agreed that they were at fault. And again no results should be posted until the draw is absolutely 100 percent accurate and done. We are not living in the stone age. These drawings have been around for years. But again I'm over it. Big government wins again

I think anyone who was selected should get permits. Maybe I'm just an eternal tinfoil hat optimist! :) Long live the American dream!

Trophyhunt just for a little clarity I saw on a post you said the 4 guys who were left out either forgot to choose a hunt number or ghost point option, at that point couldn't they have just manually added a point and left the draw as is? Did they really run a redraw over 4 guys who forgot to enter their choices?

You can't have a permit revoked you didn't receive.  Until you receive your hard copy in the mail you don't have a permit.  WDFW is a joke of a department, if you are surprised there was a screw up you are a fool.  I expect the drawing to be ridiculously late and flawed every year.
