One eye or both open?

Always both open, must practice switching dominant eye.
For truly long shots, I'll close my non scope eye, to remove clutter,
And focus only on the reticle.
If I need to adjust the scope, or check my book,or something moves,  both eyes open until I'm refocused on target.

I don't know why but when I shot traditional bows I keep both open. When shooting compounds I close my left eye. Im goofy I guess

Just tried both eyes open again and my groups have tightened up significantly. I think this is my new way of shooting. Can't believe how much better I'm shooting. Thanks for all the replies guys!

The biggest advantage, I've found, is getting on target quicker.
Locate target, bring the scope/ sight into the picture.
No more searching around while looking though the scope.

All of the above advantages plus having both eyes open in low light improves the target image. Your eyes are lenses which collect light and send the image to your brain. Since a great deal of the animals we kill are shot either around dawn or dusk, this is huge. Here's a great article on using both eyes.

Figure out what eye is dominant.  If you shoot right handed and are left eye dominant  you better close the left eye .........like me lol

I have tried and tried to shoot both open and can't do it. I am right eye dominant but my left eye will take over if left open and my right is obscured with a peep.

If you can't, you can't. If you have a choice, use both.

Both open for me. I can see my whole target plus everything around it(sticks and brush) and can see my arrow flight and impact the majority of the time, which I think is a huge plus when hunting. But my right eye is very dominant and I'm right handed, so makes it an easy decision for me.

I thought I was the only one! It happens so fast... both eyes closed , two fingers on the trigger and SLAMMO!

So I guess to the op, both eyes open... until they're closed.

Well yes this is what we all do... but not all of us are willing to admit t.
