Anybody who has been watching the news knows federal agencies are likely going to have budgets cut. The Dept of Interior is looking at a 10% cut, although Secretary Zinke says he is going to fight the cuts. Some cuts will happen, may not be 10% but ya never though.

The federal lands fee system is pretty wide open. The National Park Service and US Fish and Wildlife Service can charge entrance fees anywhere they want. USFS, BLM, and BOR can't charge "entrance fees" but they can charge fees for using/being in a developed area. Who decides which areas is fee required? The agency.

The current federal lands pass is $80 for a year. In 2016 Congress (led by anti-public lands Congressman Rob Bishop) raised the fee for senior citizens from $10 for a lifetime pass to $80 for a lifetime pass.

As we all know, when agency's budgets are cut via Congress/State Legislature it is the users who end up paying more. Who thinks that if we see some significant cuts to federal land agencies that we will see a lot more "fee areas" coming to our local public lands???

I really don't have an issue with access fees going up as I believe users should cover the costs, not the taxpayers that don't use the areas.
