im using charcoal right now. Gets super hot fast but burns up a bit faster than coal from what I've heard. I know there is a guy in Spokane that's part of the nwba that sells forging coke

no plans for damascus yet but I have been hardening and tempering tools that won't see a lot of heat.  Blades are on the menu

Made a quick gambrel the other day. Had a huge ram on it few hours later. No Bending or flexing even with hard pulling and I didn't even heat treat. 1/2" bolt steel.

Just started back into the heat myself. Been planning to add it to the knifesmithing, but only just got to it this season. Having a ton of fun! Built a forge, scored a 100lb anvil, made a few knife billets, just made a fully forged knife yesterday out of a huge old lathe chisel! Going to have it at the Pheasants Forever banquet next week, along with about 5 others... depending what I can get gripped up by then.

Will try to bring some pics over...
