Looking for a Turkey Hunting Partner / Mentor
« on: April 10, 2017, 09:06:21 AM »
I am a brand new turkey hunter. This will be my first year hunting turkeys and I want to do it right. Using a guide is not out of the question but want to look at all options. I will be focusing  my efforts to the SW WA area. If interested send me a DM.

If I were in your shoes, I would focus efforts on NE Washington.  Western Washington isn't even managed for turkey anymore as far as I recall.  I think they cancelled it because they realized the Easterns just weren't taking.

Unless you have access to land that holds wild turkey, or know of a few flocks in your local area, I think you may end up being frustrated in your search.

The closer option for you may be the Klickitat area.  It's good, but nothing will beat NE WA.

I'm a novice. I went out two or three times a few years ago and got some gobbles but not close enough to close the deal. I took a course though, so now, I'm an expert!  :chuckle: If you want to team up to hunt Klickitat, I'd be game. I have to play piano for the old ladies on Easter and I'm expecting a gazebo to arrive which will take another weekend coming up. But other than that, I'm planning on hunting as much as possible.

There are a couple areas outside of White Salmon that I know about that produce birds. I gotta look at my notes and will send you a pm.
