Are you going to call next weekend?  I want to bring my son up and let someone (who knows what they are doing), show us, but he is going to be at the state championships all day tomorrow and Saturday, and (if he does well) will probably be tired on Sunday.

How was the PM hunt?

sorry mark had jet lag. and the wife had me take her to lunch yesterday. then she spent all the money i made on selling call's at the predatormaster's hunt. that's okay it's her birthday. Mark pm me if you want to hunt this weekend. we have till march 15. so i'm flexible. just making lot's of call's. on the call's just do normal distress add fawn bleat's. i hunted sunday With Rainshadow and knockemdown. i didd alot of hand calling. we thought we found a kill. i did distress on my production call's. then Steve did cougar whistle's up the wash from me. he had a cougar growl at him up high during the week. so did Tombo. if you want a truely great cougar call that i bet will work. please contact Rainshadow steve is very good at cougar sound's and what make's them tick. was a pleasure hunting with you steve. Rick

We gotta get together up here, Rick. I'll sit with you and put that WT through its paces! Thanks for the hunt and the ride Sunday. I'm glad you got home safe.

Got close on the San Carlos, got a good vocal response, but I wasn't thinking clearly and didn't pressure the cat and call again after the first stand. Too excited I guess. The Cougar was challenging me in defense of the cow kill over the hill, then left and (probably) went back to it. I should have closed a couple hundred yards and called again, but I just assumed I was busted and left the area. Hindsight is always clear. If I had it to do over again, I'd have moved in and made it commit to the call in defense. What did I have to lose? If I was busted it wouldn't come in, and the result would be the same. If I wasn't busted, it would have thought I was another cat moving in and challenging for its kill, it would have had to do something about it. Pretty intense, yeah, but hey, hunting the "Yutin" is supposed to be intense!

("Yutin" is Apache for Mountain Lion.)

Go get 'em, Rick!
