checking cameras
« on: March 22, 2017, 07:49:35 AM »
Anyone know how far up a guy can get into the rimrock unit right now? I am itching to check my trail cameras but don't want to make the trip over there if I can't get to them. One is in the Pinegrass area and two are up by Conrad Meadows.....can I get to them yet?

I'm in the same boat as you! I would hate to make the trek over then be unable to get to my camera

Or snowshoes. Every road is still snowed in and snowmobile season may be extended until April 15. Probably won't be able to get anywhere till May.

There's still 1-2' along the county road.

Edit for the whole area: all roads are still snowed in on each pass.

Yeah, I'd wait awhile, especially if your gear is near Conrad.  The sunny slopes are getting better and better, but the north sides are still pretty locked in.

+1 for waiting until May at least.

went and got my camera today at rimrock and was pleasantly surprised to find it still there seeing how it was only strapped to the tree with no box. two hunters walked passed and were gracious enough to not mess with it Thank you! I guess what goes around comes around Ive walked by quite a few cameras at rimrock and give the waive and keep on hunting. I hadn't checked the camera since early archery season and I am quite pleased

I heard that the 1000 rd is closed due to a slide just above Minnie meadows between 1050 and 1070? Any truth to that?

There is truth in my original post and thread via usfs. They aren't going to barricade it until they can get equipment up there.

Any updates on road conditions up into rimrock? How far up the 1000, 1204 or 1205 can a guy get now? Thanks

You're still a few weeks out before getting to your upper camera on the 1204. Going up 1205 you can't make it to the large over look yet. 1000 is closed, gated, at 750. This is as of 2 days ago.

Thanks for the info. My highest camera is at Conrad meadows and it sounds like I will have to hike to that one even after the snow is gone with the washout up there.
