A little early startup
« on: March 29, 2017, 10:53:53 AM »
Heading to California.  Wife's mom fell and broke her femur.  Had to have surgery and put a rod in her leg.  She is mending well but wife wants to go down and visit a couple days.  So my benefit is that it is turkey season down there.  Hopefully I can sneak out early Sunday morning and give a Rio a dirt nap.

Mother in law is a trooper.  Breast cancer survivor going on 5+ years cancer free.  She is doing good.  I am going next weekend so I am still doing the seminars at Bass Pro.

Had a tom come I  on a string too a raspy hen call.  Looking at my decoys so i drew.   I am using a bow.  I think he caught my movement so he got antsy.  I still had a clear shot.  Took it but realized that i followed him to the edge of my blind window.  Hit the edge of the blind.  Swing and a miss.  Try to get a follow uo shot but I couldn't call him back.  Had some hens later walk by my blind about 10 feet away.  Some toms where following but wouldn't come out of the woods.  Nice day and great to be out hunting for the first time this year.  A little pic from California.

Funny thing is we probably have.  Big brown Ram 2500 with stickers on the back window.  Just got home.  Even though I missed I am not for sure using a bow this spring.  It is a challenge now.
