Are the pellets better then the loose powder or visa versa?  I had bad luck last year with caps not going off and loose powder getting wet.  So this year I'm getting a early start and trying to get everything right. don't want the same mistakes happening again.

I'm sure the loose powder is "better" for folks that shoot weekly to fine tune their loads, but for me the convenience of the pellets makes life easier.  I use the load tubes, and carry 3-4 of those in my pack with each load in it.  For me, I go with two 50gr pellets and either 250gr or 290gr Barnes T-EZ in a load tube.  With open sights I'm limited to 80-100 yards max range, and two pellets is plenty of performance for me on game.  In terms of getting wet, pellets will be a problem when wet as well.

Neither will work when wet. Got to keep the powder dry and nipples nice and clean.

with a cap not going off and or wet powder it don't make any difference what powder you use, you still have the same results..
if you use BP long enough, it happens to everyone at least once.
I found after being out hunting in the wet, the inside of my hammer, the cup (side hammer gun) holds water. so after I take the cap of to get back in the truck. I never put my hammer down, anymore. I forced water in the nipple with it and had a hang fire. keep your powder dry. Squid
