I agree but I have never seen an elk in this  area in 25yrs of hunting this spot

Looks to me like the base is over 2" it's an elk sound to me like elk have moved into your spot  :tup:

The color and location of the eyeguard says deer.

I understand your disbelief I felt the same way.
It was my first find this spring only 3 inches protruded from the moss .   I lifted it up and it justkept coming. Believe me or not bit I saw a buck at least 150 in the general area 2 years ago

How do you confirm the species of an antler (mule deer blacktail whitetail elk)?
I've spent quite a bit of time in this area and have never seen an elk or sign of an elk. I wish there were elk here it would save me some gas money. When I get time I'll try and find the other side.
