That's the point of the post if you think this is an elk antler that's fine. It's just not what I think and the reason for posting a freaky spike buck. Once again how does one determine the species of an antler. The sportsmans,show measurers don't have a way.
I remember 15 or so years ago a guy claimed he had a monster blacktail and had it scored only to find out it was a mule deer. He had his pic in wa,oregon magazine with a,ruler inside his rack.

If it makes you feel better to call it a blacktail horn then do so.
The more I look at it I think it's a Columbia Whitetail Shed. That's just my opinion.

Love that shed, any shed found in wet side is a awesome find.
If  that green belt is located around JBLM, their is more elk showing up in that area every year.

had a bull run across the road off 200th in graham not far from meridian before! my folks live in graham by the high school and have cows from time to time in there yard and off the road they travel!

I think its most likely a freak deer shed too. It would be a weird looking elk spike shed. around where I live the spikes would be a lot thicker all the way up and the big base is strange also.  Thanks for posting it cool find regardless!

It is an elk shed.....the chances of a spike wandering into an area in Pierce County not known for elk is fairly high.............the chances of a blacktail buck regressing and then putting all the energy into a long spike is extremely low.....when they regress they may go from a 3 or 4 pt to a 2 pt but the antler shape stays mostly the same...
