Good sign.......
« on: February 20, 2009, 08:30:33 PM »
My brother Wapitihunter called last night said he was looking at 11 bulls off Meridian on his way home last night, 9 spikes a 5x5 and a 6x6! That message made my mood lighter, especially with all the negative talk about the tribes......

Shut up all of you, stop teasing me.  :chuckle: My family owns a ranch in Eatonville and it's enough temptation as it is to want to hunt over there without y'all talking about big bull elk all over the place.  This year I have a good chance of drawing my Peaches Tag.  My mind is like a game of pong gong from one thought to another.   :bash:

Dont advertise it, those who eat an elk a month and overharvest may decide to hunt your herd....

The 6x6 was a KEEPER! I took some pictures but the are from a about 400 yards or so. I will try and get them posted tonight. I have seen Elk in this field before but seeing all them bulls together was just awesome!

Oh yeah well I went coyote hunting this weekend and saw 150 elk.  One was a 3x3, 4 were spikes and one was a 1x2 that had antlers like a mule deer.

I will note that the cows were smart but the "bachelor" herd was dumber than a box of rocks.  They were bedded in the middle of a dirt field and watched us walk by them.  About thirty yards away they got up and walked off.  But not before stopping ever twenty yards to watch us.  Then I swear wherever we went they seemed to follow us and would then move off.  Just to bump into us again.

When those genes entered the gene pool the life guard must have been passed out.

Well here are some crude pic's of them Elk. The 6 power zoom on my little camera was just not enough to reach out there. The Big 6x6 was laying on the ground by the big fir tree with his head flat to the ground. He was ontop of the hill with a 360 degree view. Smart old boy.

Lets see, 11 off of Meridian, some whoppers off of 304th, you guys may as well give those that kill this time of year GPS coordinates.

If they kill in those areas they will be strung up. 100% private property with lots of eyeballs around. They have never done it in these areas before, that I know of, and that's the reason.

It would probably be about like pulling up to a refuge viewing area with 20 people watching and start blasting elk.

I suppose there are some that are so bold. :dunno:

Shut up all of you, stop teasing me.   My family owns a ranch in Eatonville and it's enough temptation as it is to want to hunt over there without y'all talking about big bull elk all over the place.  This year I have a good chance of drawing my Peaches Tag.  My mind is like a game of pong gong from one thought to another.

Your family let myself and some friends archery hunt their ranch a few years ago, we could only shoot the cows and small bulls, the big dude was off limits! He was the BIGGEST bull I have ever seen in the wild! We had some video footage of him tearing up some trees, bugling and chasing cows. He was a 7x8, later we heard a muzzleloader shot him, we heard that bull scored just under 380!!!!!!

I still remember when that bull walked by us at 40 yards just before dark.............. :yike:

Holy cow 380.  Damn that is one big mother.  Why couldn't you shoot the big one?  My uncle doesn't seem to care about elk that much.  Which is weird because if I owned the property you wouldn't have been able to shoot the big one either, but that's because he'd be mine.  How did you guys do?  I've always wanted to hunt my uncles property.    Finman are you the guy that my uncle takes his boy scouts over to hunt whitetails every year?

No I am not him. I am just one of those lucky surveyors that get to talk to all kinds of people out and about due to the work I do. I am WAPITIHUNTERS older and better looking brother! :chuckle:
Dave would not let us shoot that monster bull, said he or a good friend was after it. We could respect that. Hunting small property elk can be fun. but it gets real frustrating when they don't cooperate or they leave and don't come back for a week.
A couple years ago Mary called me and said to bring my dad out with his muzzleloader and shoot a cow, there were about 30 head in the pasture, we grabbed his gear and flew out there in time to have the herd jump the fence and cross the road to the safe side! :'(

I won't ever forget how big that bull was! :yike:

Sorry I for some reason thought your avatar said you were from Pullman.  That sucks you couldn't have shot him.  I'd rather see a bull like that go to an archery guy any day.  I would love to hunt his property some day but I havn't been willing to bank my entire elk season on the off chance that the elk are on his property or not.  Sort of hit and miss.  I'll hunt the west side someday.  Though.

Have you guys ever conected on his property before?
