Bought a new Toyota Tacoma
« on: April 11, 2017, 04:32:17 PM »
Well I went ahead and bought a truck about a week and a half ago.  2017 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab.  Shopped and shopped.  Nobody really interested in coming down much in price.  I ended up buying a SR Double cab in white. Missed out on a few options but got what I need.   The truck came with full towing package,  power windows, door locks, remote entry,  power mirrors, cruise, tilt telescopic wheel, AM FM CD MP3 Blue tooth, backup camera, sliding rear window.   Didn't get alloy wheels, chrome package, navigation, fog lamps, power dimming mirror.  Don't care much for the factory alloys anyway so I'll find the ones I like and buy them.   The money I saved paid for a new matching canopy, new Goodyear Dura Trax traction tires, weather Tech floor mats and a level lift.  (lift isn't in yet).  And a heavy duty bed mat. And I'm still money ahead. The one thing I really liked about this truck is it didn't have the plastic fender flares.  I hate those things.  Here's a picture......

I'm not one for all the bells and whistles, just more money and more things that can break.  You will love the truck...they are awesome machines.  Congrats.

I do love it already.  I've owned a couple with the 4.0 liter v6 and this 3.5 v6 is definitely different but I think it will work out just fine.

Money ahead vs What?

Vehicles are very difficult to be money ahead on. :bash:

Money ahead of buying one with the options I didn't need.  I saved over 4000.00 buying this than the best deal I could find on an SR5 with the unwanted options.  Comes a time when it's nice to buy new.  Probably be the last truck I buy.  Decided to go new.   Hopefully no headaches or problems.

There will be blood on and in this.  Lots of it.

Way to go Brant. Good call on the Toyota. Man I don't know about using that truck out at a certain boat launch you like to use every summer  :chuckle:

Too bad it's a Toyota.

If it was a Dodge you could buy a new one every 100,000 miles.

Now you're stuck with a rig that won't quit........

Nice looking truck!

Sean,  I've got my old Dodge to launch the boat at Freshwater Bay.   Plus I kept my 4Runner too.  it's just to nice to get rid of yet.  This truck isn't going anywhere near saltwater.

Well done. That's easily a 300k mile vehicle with some basic maintenance.

This is exactly why I have 2 Toyotas (01 Camry and '12 Corolla) and when/if I get a truck it will also be Toyota.  :sry: to all the ford/dodge/gmc people but Toyota is where it's at for vehicles that last forever  :).

Congrats!!

To the OP, congrats on the new truck, nice looking setup especially with the matching canopy.  I have a similar setup on my 13 Taco.

I've got a 2013 Taco that I've been thinking about selling and getting a new Raptor but all this talk about Toyota's lasting forever is making me rethink it.  Hmmm.
