Raffle Permits
« on: April 20, 2017, 08:57:04 PM »
So as most of you have already read this will be my first year hunting, and I'm always seeking more info to get me started in the right direction

I read the new regs and am confused about raffle permit apps.
I apologize if it's right there but I don't understand the wording they use.

If I were to apply for a couple raffle permit hunts:
Say- northeast Washington big game and mule deer.
I see thy are 6$ A piece but how many tickets can I get for each one?
Is there a limit?
Thanks guys

You can buy as many as you want. There are only one or two permits available for each drawing compared to the special permits. Some people spend a lot on the raffles in a given year and can get the odds more in their favor than the once in a lifetime (oil) tags.

Good thing about the raffle tags are that they are not oil tags and you can conceivably get multiple tags for sheep and moose in your lifetime.
My interpretation of the rules are open to interpretation.

I see. So if I were to feel like spending 100$ of tickets on one raffle and 100$ worth on another I could just do that? Awesome thanks!

Not kidding at all. It's called "flooding the raffle." Really, if you break it down, 10-20k for the Central Wa deer/elk/ram tag is cheaper than booking guided hunts for trophy class animals of each species. But there is the danger of dropping the coin and not getting the tag. There are people who have pulled those tags without flooding the raffle, could be you! Good luck!

Might as well not purchase any tickets since I am going to win them all. It would save you a lot of money to just hang onto it.

Is that chart exactly how many raffle tix sold for each species for those years? If so you're right that's not THAT bad.

I just read that you're not allowed to purchase raffle tickets online or over the phone due to Washington's gambling restrictions on wire transfers. And thus you must purchase in person at a license vendor. Was it like this last year? It will be much more difficult for the out-of-state millionaires to flood the raffle this way.

Yeah i got you guys. I definitely will.
If I were to draw a raffle like say mule deer. And I wanted to bring my hunting partner. Would he be there literally just for me to bring someone because only me the one who drew the raffle tickets could be the one to get the deer, right? I couldn't win it and share it so to speak.
Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question

In Washington?  I'm pretty sure you can't have someone else take an animal on your tag, but if it IS possible, it will cost you money in this state!

(33) The permittee may be accompanied by others; however, only the permittee is allowed to carry a legal weapon or harvest an animal.

Hey guys so now I got a coupe raffle tix.
My newest question is it supposed to be just a receipt saying how much it costs and the raffle tickets numbers on it? Even tho it doesn't have 2 physical "tickets"?
