I've killed more than a dozen elk now with the 6.5's. They work well. ****BUT**** you must respect the fact that it's not a magnum. That arss to tea kettle shot that you can take with your .338 won't work here. You,will pass up shots because of the guns limitations. With that said, I've had more bang flops with my 6.5's than all of my other guns combined. The 300rum which I've taken a bunch of elk with has not netted me the same results. I suspect it's due to the bullet choices, but it is what it is. As for range. The gun has it to take a perfect shot to your range and beyond....but you have to do your job and make sure you pilot it correctly.
Some serious bang for the buck! Is the Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor. Mid weight barrel and accurate right out of the box. I have spent ALLOT of money on custom rifles. When I kept reading post after post on many shooting forums on how well they shot I had to try one out. I picked one up and shot 600 rounds through it in less than a month or so with a wide variety of hand loads. It was a solid 3/4 MOA rifle across the bored and hovered more towards the 1/2 MOA mark. The kicker $369.00 bucks. Other than the Carsons cheek piece and muzzle brake I added the rifle is factory.1st row 100 yards2nd 200 yards3rd 300 yards300 yards.
👍👍👍Let me know how the Hornady factory 143gr EDL-X's shoot through that if you shoot any. I have a friend that has flat dialed in a load for his 6.5CM Ruger Predator. His rifle is amazingly accurate with the Hornady 143gr ELD-X.This is a 3 shot 200 yard group with the 143gr ELD-X.
