I've killed more than a dozen elk now with the 6.5's. They work well. ****BUT**** you must respect the fact that it's not a magnum. That arss to tea kettle shot that you can take with your .338 won't work here. You,will pass up shots because of the guns limitations.

With that said, I've had more bang flops with my 6.5's than all of my other guns combined. The 300rum which I've taken a bunch of elk with has not netted me the same results. I suspect it's due to the bullet choices, but it is what it is.

As for range. The gun has it to take a perfect shot to your range and beyond....but you have to do your job and make sure you pilot it correctly.

6.5 creedmoor it is.  Purchased the rifle today...now I just need to scope it and start working a load.  Super stoked!!!!

Congrats on the purchase!  The 6.5 Creedmoor is a great round.  Hopefully get some good optics to take advantage of the long range ability.  Sounds like fun!

I've grown fond of the mid sized 6.5s lately. I had a 6.5x47 Lapua sitting for more than a year before I actually shot more than a couple rounds through it, but now It's kind of growing on me. The Lapua was a rifle I built for my daughter to target shoot and possibly hunt with and I wouldn't hesitate to let her take a shot on an elk at 600 yards with it if I were confident she could make a good hit. Of course I'd be standing by with a real gun fix things just in case.

Yea see the same with with a .243 on deer at times - seems to hit harder than the magnums at times which is crazy given that lil 100 gr bullet.

Picked up a Howa "Alpine" in 6.5 Creedmoor gave me fits at first holding it to my accuracy standards and took about a 100 rounds to break in and settle down. Free floated it and a quality bedding job and it went to 1/2 MOA. Superbly accurate and a pleasure to carry.

Are you loading your own ammo or shooting factory ammo?  If your loading, are you interested in sharing the recipe as a starting point.  I was going to shoot the 140 grain accu bonds if I can get them to shoot.

Some serious bang for the buck! Is the Ruger American Predator in 6.5 Creedmoor. Mid weight barrel and accurate right out of the box. I have spent ALLOT of money on custom rifles. When I kept reading post after post on many shooting forums on how well they shot I had to try one out. I picked one up and shot 600 rounds through it in less than a month or so with a wide variety of hand loads. It was a solid 3/4 MOA rifle across the bored and hovered more towards the 1/2 MOA mark. The kicker $369.00 bucks.

Other than the Carsons cheek piece and muzzle brake I added the rifle is factory.

The 6mm Creedmoor in the Ruger American Predator is a daisy also!

After barrel break in. These are the first 3 shot and 5 shot groups out of the rifle with factory ammo.

Allot of guys are shooting H4350in the 6.5 CM. After allot of time behind a 6.5 Creedmoor of one type of another. I'm sold on RL-17. I get better accuracy with the same powder charge as H4350 and 107 feet per second more speed with the 140gr A-Max

BH, you mentioned that the 6.5 CM is the .260 done right.  What do you mean by that if you don't mind me asking?
