MLok or KeyMod
« on: April 20, 2017, 06:44:46 AM »
Which is the BetaMax of rail standards?

This is the one I am looking at, and I only need a top rail and possibly a bipod attachment point.

Which do you prefer, and why?

I prefer M-lok, only because my first AR had M-lok so I keep them the same for compatibility. And I like Magpul stuff.

Yeah, and I think I recall both are royalty-free open standards.  So at this point, I am leaning MLok, mainly because of the Magpul backing.

Kinda like Ford vs Chevy  :chuckle:.   I have that rail in Keymod and am happy with it.

That's what I thought.  Thanks for the feedback on that particular rail.

They both are definitely good options, can't go wrong either way.

USSOCOM is going with MLok. Both systems were tested and the result was the MLok was more durable than the other systems.

Here is the article.

GryphonHunter, very nice first post!
Some great info in that article.

Welcome to Hunting Washington

This comment from the article, fits me perfectly.

"Great news!

I am irrationally attached to MLOK for weapon accessories so this is the evidence I need to further my confirmation bias."

Thanks Alchase!

I've been lurking on this forum for a while now. Mostly doing research and gaining knowledge since I would classify myself as a novice hunter. I'm trying to learn from the guys that know.

I just ordered a Geissele MK8 15" rail (MLok) for my Colt. It's on backorder...I'm anxiously awaiting a shipping confirmation!

I've already got my MLok accessories picked out.  :IBCOOL:

MLOCK

That's what Magpul picked up so that's what going to win the "rail wars". It means more things will be available and made for that system.

Magpul is the Porn of the gun industry, whatever they pick is what wins.

That's what I was thing regarding the betamax question.  And GH's link on military adoption cements it for me.
