reloading results
« on: May 02, 2017, 07:49:29 PM »
I spent some time this winter working up recipes for the 223. I was able to sneak away today and try a few. My gun loved 77 gain smk's hpbt loaded with tac from ramshot. I wasn't able to get hornady amax with varget to get this tight. I was shooting 100 yards in four shot groups. I have a few more to try but I am not sure I will shoot this good again. :chuckle:

How long's your barrel ?  Just curious as Im finding quickload is pretty accurate in predicting nodes at times.

Good shooting. Is this out of a semi-auto or bolt action? If you got that kind of results out of a AR you definitely hit pay dirt.

I haven't reloaded 77gr MatchKings, but found them extremely accurate in Black Hills and HSM factory loads.
1/8 twist AR.

It's out of semi ar. The upper is from white oak. Its a 22" 1-8 twist 223 wylde. I built the lower and nothing super fancy. It has a mil spec lpk. I was super stoked to get that group. It shoots factory ammo pretty well and have been happy with it. A good friend in Colorado talked me into getting into reloading and so far I am loving it.

That's good to know, specifically the 77 SMK and TAC with 1/8 twist.  Thanks.

This is good to know.  I've been on the fence for a couple years about ordering a WOA varmint upper.  Your results may have tipped me off the edge.

I agree QL is a good tool for load development been using it for a few years now and it is pretty accurate in predicting the accuracy node with a powder bullet combination. good to see another user.
