Repairing your waders

So I purchase this nice pair of hip waders a few months back.  A couple of weeks ago I'm doing this beaver job and I take a fall.   Through my arm out which I think I'll be having shoulder surgery on in the next few weeks.  Fell down this small hillside and fell on a beaver crewed stick.  I thought that thing went through my leg and out the other side but the wader stopped it ....... well kind of.  Leg still hurts might need a new one     Anyway I have a nice "L" shape hole in my wader about 1-1/2"x 1-1/2".  Because I had to get back to trapping the next day, I put on a guys favorite tool "Duct  Tape."  Well I have four beaver jobs I'm doing right now and today I stepped out into some deeper water and guess what ....... the duct tape was loose.  Yep, water down in my boot.

So what are you guys using to repair your waders?

Aquaseal if you have the funds or shoe goo if you have a tube laying around and are cheap.  Both do a great job, assuming you are talking about neoprene waders.

Loctite  - Vinyl, Fabric, Plastic    Flexible Adhesive .  It is in a blue and purple tube.  They sell it at Walmart back in the hardware section.  I put some in the puncture and a couple of coats on the surface.  Dries pretty quick

5200 is used all over in the boat industry.  Tough stuff for sure.  The loctite fabric glue dries clear or slightly opaque and does not really have any thickness when dry.

5200 like everyone else says...but I carry shoe goo with me in the truck tool box, it drys pretty fast in a pinch

I have used aqua seal & shoe goo, but found the SG-20 to be the best option I have ran across.  Works good on neoprene and the boots.  I usually put a few holes in my waders every year.

 Go to your local tire store and have them put a hot patch on your boot, it will last longer than the boot.

   Wow, I didn't think anybody was even out here on the trappers sight since the season ended.
Great information guys.  Thanks for all of your suggestions.  I think this is a great subject for all of us trappers and fishermen

I was up at Cabela's today so I picked up some stuff to see what will work
1st on was a "Simms  Repair Kit" for Gore-Tex.  Reason was the patch they have in the kit.  It also has Aquaseal Adhesive.
2nd one was a Aquseal Wader Repair Kit.  For a back up.
As you can see they are a rubber pair of hip waders.  Bad part is that the cut is right below where I fold over the boot.
I'll see if it works, because of where the cut is I might have to go and purchase another pair of hip waders.

I would stick a piece of duct on the inside to keep the tear stable and hen rough up around the edges of the cut with sandpaper and then go over it with a good bead of Aquaseal. No need for another patch, the Aquaseal is tough stuff all by itself.

Kind of funny all the push for 5200. I've been using it for over 20 years but never wanted to use it on boots or waders. I'm sure it works but just always had Aquaseal which is not half so messy and dries quicker than even the quick cure.

Agua seal= worse then useless.
 The stuff I posted (masterseal NP-1) and the 5200 are I believe the same product just a different company. The key word is polyurethane.
It never gets hard and inflexible, seems to stick to about everything and for me it never comes unstuck. I have patched the soles on boots even and it never came loose.
On a tear like that I would as another poster suggested back it with duct tape. That will keep it from glueing your boots closed.

The only place I can get the stuff is online so seems like a waste of time to look for it at the store. It takes about 3 days to cure so not a quick fix but a permanent one.
