This is our gear for the next seven days. The we set up camp at the base of a mountain against a rock ledge. I took a few pics of a rock bluff that we used as a perch to glass from for this hunt. We had to use a rope to climb up to it due to the steepness and how wet everything stays from the rain. It's steep and pretty dangerous considering how far you are from help. Then there are a few pics of the view from the perch.

Few more pics from the bluff. And a few low tide pics. On low tide you are glassing about a 1 mile by 1 1/2 mile flat.

This time of year in Alaska they have about 21 hours of day light. So the way he hunts them is taking 4 1/2 hour shifts to glass. Then go sleep , eat, etc. This proved very effective because we seen more bears mid day than in the morning or night. A mature boar has roughly a 90 mile range. So you really don't know when he will show up. But if he does you want to be watching. The first day at the end of light we seen a boar and a sow 1400 yards away and moving very quickly away. I got a few quick photos and they were gone. It was a shooter we felt. They feel in this area any male over 8 foot is a shooter. He felt this bear was 9 foot. Which this was getting me excited because that was my goal for the hunt. Was anything over 9 foot. But they disappeared as quickly as the had originally appeared. The next day I got a quick look at a big bear a mile away mid day. But he did not like something and ran back into the timber after only being out for less than a minute. Then a few hours later a few 2 1/2 year olds showed up in a different spot. I videoed them but did not take any pics.

Then a big boar with a great coat comes into 400 yards. We watched him and a sow come in from 750 yards. I videoed them and took pics. It was the two from the other side of the flats that we had seen earlier in the hunt. One shot I busted both front shoulders and he was down.

Congrats and thanks for sharing the pics and story. That's a good looking bear.
(I rotated that paw picture for you. Sorry it threw it out of order.)
