Wenaha Spring bear

Hello from eastern Washington, this forum is absolutely great!!  This is my first post so bear with me please. ive drawn the wenaha spring bear tag and would like to ask if any of you could give up some info on the best access to into the unit around the third week of May? Also maybe a few areas inside the unit to try and focus  on. i am looking at the three forks trail head just north of Troy, Oregon. I will  be doing a backpack style hunt for 4-5 days. also wondering about the snow. thanks a lot guys!!

The only road access this year would be the area you mentioned. The other side will be hike only from the bottom. It may be into june this year to aces the other side, with a truck anyways.

 Idk I went in at three fork trailhead to check it out. Tons of blow downs and the bridges are all burnt up to cross the creeks. So unless you want to wade across a 4 ft river or cross thigh high streams I would focus on driving in and glassing

There's no roads into the Wenaha, but the entire perimeter is surrounded by them.

That being said, there's still plenty of access in there. Even now, just have to work a little harder.

my advice, does not really matter the where, more the how. of all the access points ive been in, its the same story.
pick a trailhead. hike your ass off into remote country. be in position at bear:30. dont see camp in the daylight. if its storming, be in position when it breaks. climb to the highest/best vantage point around and be ready to park it there all day with the glass. be proficient shooting longer ranges. its big, steep country. it makes for long days and longer packouts. treat all garments with permethrin as ticks are THICK in there.. good luck
