Wife got here Bear down. Waited for the weather to warm up. This last Saturday seemed like a good day to head out. We got out there around 4:30pm. Started off seeing elk and grouse. Felt good to be up there. The greens where we hunt weren't really out yet, so I was having my doubts. Wasn't more then couple mins on the road where we see all the spring sign that we spot a bear 75 yards sunning himself and eating grass. He didn't give her a shot do to all the alders. He then walks away into the thick, step and dark woods. We kept driving and gave him about 30 mins to hopefully return to feeding. We got back to where he was and nothing but green grass and a dark looking shadow. 100 yards away the shadows can play tricks on the mind. I brought up the binos and sure enough. That shadow was nothing more then a bear. It was 7:30pm and He didn't even mind us watching him. She had no shot do to him giving her his backside. The wife got a good rest and waited. Couple mins later he turns broadside and about the time I say there is your shot, She let the .243 bark. I see steam come out of the bear and hes gone. We sat and listened to him break every log in his path. After letting out two moans, we went in looking for him. No blood trial but the ground was tore up. 60 yards away we was bedded down in a creek. This is her first bear and her third year hunting. Shot placement is what matters. Couldn't be more proud of her.
