Accunocks...anyone tried them?
« on: February 23, 2009, 11:59:19 AM »
I decided to give Accunocks a try after reading some good reviews on them.  If you check out their ebay listing they claim to be revolutionary.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130249925054&viewitem=

I was a little dissapointed and shot them an email to say so and this is the corresponance I have had so far.  Pretty humorous I thought.

Hi, I received my Accunocks this weekend and gave them a try. I have to say my initial reaction is that I am dissapointed. Your listing sure gets a person believing that you have a revolutionary product but at the moment I have to disagree. I shot these with my Maxima Hunter 350's side by side with the nocks that come with the Maxima Hunters. The Accunocks are very loose on the string for about an 1/8th of an inch. The design also seems that with the little insert you have that keeps the arrow on the string will wear the serving very fast. That sharp edge on that little retainer has me concerned. I shot my arrow through paper and where I have perfect bullet holes with the standard nock the Accunocks tear inconsistantly just a slight bit. I will try a little shooting at range and try them over the chrono and see if they actually make a differance like you claim but I am doubtfull.

Ok well
Good luck to you.

That's your response!? That's some good customer service there buddy! Way to back up your product! This is the response I get from the guys who claim this right on their listing...."This is the nock that will change the world of archery as we know it"? You don't want to tell me where I'm not seeing the benefit? Or that I am missing something on my perception of the design? What about this statement...."If for any reason you are not completely satisfied with this amazing nock I will be happy to take them back for a full refund."

-Mark

(accunocks)

Mark,
We will be happy to give your money back. Please send them back and I will refund you imedeately.

I would have given you a better response but it seemed to me that you had it all figured out on your own and determined to undermine our Amazing product so I felt that you were entitled to your opinion.

That being said Let me address your "issues"

first off, Our Accunocks fit loosely on your string for two reasons.
1. It eliminates arrow arching (caused when you pull back your draw and the arrow lifts off your arrow rest. (we saw this as a Hugh problem for most archers and that is why we make them bigger that the standard nock to eliminate this problem).
2. when you draw back your string you will see that that is hardly any movement or space or slid to the Accunock. Have someone verify this when you pull back your string. you will see maybe a 1/16" slide (which is normal).

second item you had were "the little inserts you have that keep the arrow on the string will wear the serving string fast"
This is the whole concept of the accunock. Please go back and re read our listing. The inner nock slides independently from the outer nock. "When you fire your arrow the inner nock recesses into the outer nock (so the little tabs are sucked back in to the outer nock and do not touch your serving string as the arrow leaves your bow.
take one of your Accunocks (by itself not on the arrow. take something like a toothpick and press down on the inter nock. you will see the little tabs disappear into the outer nock and when you release the pressure the tabs will stick back out. this happens at less than 10,000 of a second when you fire your arrow. It is easier to see with our bright colors. anyway I hope that clears up a few things.

In closing let me add that Accunock is sponsered on many Archey sites including FOB nation. we have Thousands of followers. Please see our Feedback on ebay.
Thank You,
Tim Pott

Tim, that's the response I expected the first go around. :-) I didn't expect to have my criticism met with anything but a positive backing of your product.

I did read your listing and was concerned that the inner nock would grab the string on realease thinking that it would come back into position faster then it came off the string.

I Understand you have many followers and sponsors and great feedback and that is what made me give them a try. The Whisker Biscuit arrow rest also has thousands if not millions of people who swear by it but is not a product that I would ever use.

The great thing about ebay is it gives us the chance to directly engage with each other.

I guess I should have done more messing around with these before forming any opinion but I did say that those were my initial opinions and was going to do some more shooting with them.

-Mark

Anyway, it's a long read but thought it funny that they would have all these great claims about their product but get so defensive with a slight bit of criticism.

I will mess with them some more but I really don't think they will be worth the dollar + each they are charging.

not anything great IMO... standard nocks seem to be just fine, the best archers in the world can hit the same spot over and over with them
