Turkey pot call
« on: May 15, 2017, 11:56:40 AM »
Just made my first pot call that I'm pretty happy with. This is turned from cocobolo and is anodized aluminum over slate. Hoping to get out this Saturday to put it to the real test. But might be kind of late in the season so we'll see!

Awesome looking call. What kind of striker are you using? Any way you can let us hear what it sounds like ?

I've been using a maple striker with a red mallee burl handle from a call i bought. I'm hoping to make a couple different strikers this weekend. I'll see if I can't post a video once I do.

I like the looks of that pot a lot. The sound is great as well it's a little high pitched but that's the aluminum for ya. I have used an aluminum call for close to 15 years and finally found a bird 2 years that liked it. Aluminum is great in the rain and when it's dry.

Couldn't be more right. I personally like the sound of slate calls the best but every call has its own purpose and place in our arsenal!

Sounds great! I could see playing with different strikers for sound variation. Again, gorgeous call.

Oh yeah for sure, strikers can make a big difference in sound. I'm liking the one piece strikers the best but they take so much longer to make! Haha.
