338 SnipeTac Pistol
« on: May 20, 2017, 09:26:18 PM »
Today was the first trip out of the season with the 338 SnipeTac pistol. I don't even think of dragging this one out unless I know I'll be shooting beyond 1000 yards and the roads finally cleared up enough so I could get to a spot with some decent range. Since I'm cheap and lazy I didn't want to waste time, bullets or barrel life zeroing at 100 yards so I went straight to 1278 yards and just blindly hoped that I was still kind of zeroed from the last time I shot this gun back around October! :chuckle:

I got a lot closer than I expected on that first shot! I'm shooting the 304 grain Hammer Hunter at 2745 fps using a G7 BC of .388. Shoots pretty well for a solid copper hollow point hunting bullet! The aiming point is a small white spot that's about 5-5.5" just to the right of the vertical crack in the rock face and just right of the impacts from shots 2-4. And just because I like to post pics of the gun, here it is in case I haven't posted pictures of it on here often enough.

I drug out the 284 Striker and the 338 SnipeTac rifle too and they both did pretty well. I normally shoot both of these prone because I just have a hard time controlling the bounce off of my  bench. That's why I ended up with one high shot from each gun. I just couldn't get a good line of site to the target if I shot from the prone position in this spot.

That is cool!
Only 2 defining forces sacrificed themselves for you:
The American Soldier and Jesus Christ. One died for your freedom, the other for your soul.

My rock,
He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.
Psalm 144.1
