dry firing bow

I was adjusting draw weight on my new bow when i pulled it back and as soon as the cam rolled over the string slipped.What do i look for to see if i just wrecked my bow ? I hope it is fine.

What kind of bow is it?  Hoyt says their bows will hold up to 1500+ dry fires.  Supposedly they sample test a few out of production. 

My buddy dry fired his Bowtech and the string and cables came off.  We put it back together and watched everything really close for awhile and everything was fine. 

Be really carefull with it though.  I would suggest some safety gear if you are going to draw it back and fire it.

Its a bear archery bow.I have pulled it back a couple of times since and everything looks like it is supposed to and i couldnt find any cracks on the limbs. fingers crossed

yes hoyt does 1500 dry fires for the limbs and 1000 for the riser, but that is a nother subject, look to see if the limbs are cracked, if the cam is out of alignment, if they cables and string are ok etc.... shoot it if that all checks out, but lesson learned, never draw a bow back without a arrow.... EVER

I have dry fired my martin jagmag a couple times bowfishing.  Nothing bad happened luckily. but will scare the crap out of you, loud!
