Scope mounting
« on: June 05, 2017, 09:04:05 AM »
I have a Savage LRH .300 win and I am picking up a 5-20x56 SHV to put on it.  I have never mounted a scope before, and I am looking at recommendations on what scope rings to get.  The gun came with a base attached, but I'm not sure which base it is, I will post a picture of it when I get home.

If you want to save weight get the talley one piece that doesn't need the base. If you want a rail i'd go with seekins precision rings. I'd lap them as well :twocents:

Check out Warne, if you want something a little more reasonably priced and still great quality. I've switched most all of my rifles over to Warne bases and rings recently. Made in the USA, in fact right next door in Oregon. Customer service is great too, any technical questions just email or call and you'll get a prompt response.

The base that comes with LRH is made from aluminum, Warne mostly makes steel rings. So they wouldn't work very well. But if he changed the base to steel, definitely Warne :yeah:

The cheapest option would be Burris Extreme Tactical. The pair should be around 50 bucks, and they work just fine. If you changed your base to steel, definitely go with Warne, cheap and works extremely well.
