Looking to take my son hunting
« on: June 08, 2017, 04:45:44 PM »
I posted about this same topic a couple of years ago, my son is going on his 4th year of hunting and has yet taken an animal.  I'm curious if any one had access to private land that will allow a 14 year old and myself to hunt with the hopes of him finally filling a tag.  Prefer Eastern Washington. Willing to trade a Puget sound salmon trip and or fresh caught salmon for hunting access. I've been hunting for 32 years and respect the land and the animals on the land. I pack out what I pack in and will not be a pain in the ass.

That is awesome Bob33

Teamblaze, you could also put him in for a doe tag.

No offense what's so ever, but hunting for 32 years and the last 4 years you can't even find a doe to shoot? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought youth can shoot either sex.

Do you put him in for youth tags?  My daughter drew 2 great ones in three years.

No they are subject to the general season rules unless they draw a special permit.

Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27:3

Large parts of Eastern Wa have a general antlerless whitetail season for youth, seniors, and handicap. Not only during the general season, but also  in November. It should be no problem finding a place for a youth to shoot a doe. You may not have much luck getting permission for a buck for yourself though.

Sounds pretty offensive.

My boy is 14 also, those Youth permits are key. He drew a cow tag two years ago and a Doe tag last year, awesome way for them to have an opportunity to pull the trigger.

I will see if any of my orchard contacts will allow a rifle in them. If it was archery it wouldn't be an issue.

I've been applying for his youth permits and he hasn't drawn yet.  For the guy who mentioned me hunting for 32 years, most of that has been the Naches area for elk and deer and me and my party are pretty successful for elk but the deer population has taken a huge hit in the past 15 years.  The last two seasons we've been deer hunting over by Grand Coulee dam. Long story short I got a buck two years ago we busted them and I was on one side of a big boulder and he was in the other and I was the only one that had a shooting lane for a last minute shot. Last year we got nothing.
