Haven't used that particular model, but daily I use the Uniden daily, 510 or 520 model. Solid basic unit that is compact and lasts a long time.

Cobra is top of the list for CB's.  Uniden would be my second choice.

I use a CB every day for work. We switched several years ago, and now pretty exclusively run the Uniden 520 pro XL. They are about $60-$70, and are easy to tune, easy to use, last a long time and perform really well. We got rid of all our expensive Cobras.

A 29 tuned with a noise cancelling mic and a speech processor were the standard in non ssb radios. The 510/520 pre China are good for the size, but will not run with the 29 in tuned form....but saves space. I have both. I have a midland 79-290 in my boat that does am, ssb and wx in a small space....I like it a,lot.

The installation of your antenna will have  a tremendous amount of influence on your radios performance. A well placed 102" whip can make a cheap radio smoke a galaxy with a 3' firestick.

I'm looking at getting a Cobra 29 with Bluetooth,  but I'm not familiar with how well blue tooth works.   Anyone with experience on the Bluetooth aspect?

A dirt road section of my daily commute has ongoing logging operations, it would be nice to know when I'm about to meet a log truck on a tight switchback.  Be nice for hunting too    Put a base station in my camper.

I'll be looking into the Uniden 520, at almost half the price that is really appealing.

Antlershed, what year is your Tundra? There are some threads on expeditionportal that could give you some ideas on where to start.

Another vote for the Uniden 520 . Have one in my Jeep , infact everyone in my Jeep club is running it or the 510.

I just put in a Cobra 29 LX with a 3' Firestix antenna.  So far so good.
