Archery backpack mule deer hunt in Clark GMU 244
« on: June 12, 2017, 04:31:55 PM »
Hello. My buddy and I are planning a backpacking 9 day mule deer hunt in Clark the first week of September. We have some ideas of where we want to go and where we would like to go, but neither one of use has hunted this unit. If anyone has ever hunted Clark and has any pointers I would love to PM with you. I am not really looking for spots, but rather if anyone has any tips or experiences they would care to share with me. Thank you for your time

Some spot hold more bucks and more trophy type bucks than others so scouting some spots that look good to you would be productive.
Be sure to hunt the start of the season (Sept. 1 to about 10) before the High Hunters start arriving.
If you bone out the meat pack should only weigh about 150 lbs with head and hide but could go well over 200 if you get a monster.

You will, likely, be the only hunter in your area but you will be rubbing elbows with hikers.  I would avoid the PCT just because of the hiking crowd.

Sept is the highest hiking time of the year on the PCT due to those that actually complete it in one summer this puts them on the PCT in Sept...just FYI, it will be busy but with non-hunters who don't get off of the trail. So it is still a great trail to access the hunting area just maybe not hunt from itself...

one word hikers!!
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.
