Need help attaching rifle to cabelas hunting pack
« on: June 18, 2017, 05:10:37 PM »
So I need a way to carry my rifle and my cabelas bag sucks at doing it. I can strap it on with the straps but I don't have something to hold the butt stock of the rifle. I circled the little thing on my back pack in red in my pictures and I'm wondering what this is used for.  I'm assuming I can buy something to hold my rifle with and attach it to the bag somehow. Are there any places who sell special devices to hold your rifle against your bag?

I use the Kifaru gun bearer on all my hunting packs.  Works great.

Just found this out myself. I think it's $31. Giving it a try this year.

+1, this is the only way to go.  The convenience of hands-free and gets the weight off your shoulder on to your hip belt.  Unlike other attachments, you're still hunting and can have the gu drawn in about 2 seconds.

I tried many rifle holders that hang off your belt, I could not stand having my rifle hang lower then my pack. It always seemed to catch on brush and stuff.
I only pack my rifle when not hunting (hiking out after hours) or when done hunting. Any other time I carry in my hands or sling if I need my hands.
When I want to pack my rifle, I place the butt of my rifle in the "water bottle/side pocket" and strap the barrel with a buckled strap attached up high on the side of my X2.
This holds my rifle securely and completely out of the way.
Only 2 defining forces sacrificed themselves for you:
The American Soldier and Jesus Christ. One died for your freedom, the other for your soul.

My rock,
He trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.

The loop you circled looks to be for an ice axe although I'm not sure why that would be on a hunting pack.
