No bait, just salt block you buy from feed store.

That's baiting.
Salt only is not baiting bear .So your telling me I can't put salt or minerals out for deer at my game cams .Comments like this is why I don't like posting here anymore .And further more you better go post that on about the other dozen posts in the trail cam thread about your feeling on salt as bait for bears.

Pman is looking to cause problems, I can assure you of that.
Anything you put physically put out in the woods, that attracts bears is bait.  Period.  This has been beat to death on here.
:chuckle:

Sorry PMan, I actually meant to type "Pman isn't looking...
If you aint hunting, you aint livin'

:chuckle: Were I you, I'd get clarification from your local gamie. He/she's the one writing the tickets. And, get another cup of coffee...with some whiskey in it.

Sorry, you shoot a bear near, on, around, or if the gamie thinks the boo boo even knows about the salt you xsn be ticketed for bait.

Needs to be naturally occuring like an apple tree....not placed apples.....or say a gut pile that was from a harvested deer. You xan hunt the pile but you can't place it or move it.

Another example....I dumped some wet cob a while back...the oats sprouted.  I can hunt the growth from the seeds later on but can't hunt bears over a pile of cob.

That escalated quickly. Buddy, no one is dogging you here, they're stating a fact. No one wants you to get in trouble. They really are saving you from a huge hassle. Salt and minerals are considered bait because they attract animals, period. That includes bears. You can put it out to get pictures of bears, but you cannot shoot one over it.

Take a couple deep breaths, realize we aren't getting on your case, but are watching your back.

Are you sure about that? Is it a food plot deal? I'll admit, I'm a baiting novice. Just know the basics.

Yep. Food plots are naturally occuring once the sprout. Just like apple tree ref...you cant place apples but planting a tree and hunting near it while a bear fed on naturally dropped apples is 100 a ok.

There you go!

@hunter399.   Relax brother! If you do a little search on here I've got a,ton of bears chowing on apples, cob, you name it.  The regs quoted are clear about what is considered bait and frankly many people assume things like salt, minerals, and even scent are not bait.  Instead of getting riled up mayve a thanks is in order from saving you the hassle of being questioned about hunting over bait even though it is clear you were not intentionally doing anything wrong.
