Walleye rigs

Let's hear or see your go to walleye rigging.

I went last weekend for the first time and tried a few of the so called "walleye" rigs you buy and couldn't buy a bite. Switched it up with a couple spin and glows and cookies that I had in my bag and we caught four. Ended up having a killer time on the boat with my brother and son.

Just looking for a few ideas that guys are using. We are gonna be up on the Snake around the Palouse.

I most often just flatline plugs like shad raps, husky jerks and salmo's either over the top of weeds or contour trolled off weed lines or shorelines. I get bored dragging worm rigs at a snails pace. Plus you generally catch a variety of fish on plugs.

Thanks! I don't have any of those types of plugs. Only kind of plugs I've ever used was on the river systems on the west side for salmon and steelhead. Pulling wiggle warts and tadpoles. Time to go shopping!!
For the first trip I thought we did pretty good trolling. Huge learning experience! Hopefully we can learn something each time out and refine our techniques! Seems like a really fun fishery that we have close by.

Picked up a few plugs and some crawlers. Gonna run a few different set ups and see what's working. Gonna be hot so getting an early start. Once it warms up how deep should I look for the bite?

Down on the stretch of the Snake you're referring to I have caught Walleye, catfish, bass, steelhead and chinook on plugs in the same day. My go to is the fatfish (similar to a wiggle wart) in herring bone color, orange with black stripes on the side. Wiggle warts and hotlips are good there to. This was in the fall, late September/early October.

Don't run plugs and spinners at the same time unless you like detaingling all the lines on the boat as they cross up

^^^This, plus speeds vary to fish each effectively.

Tried a few different rigs yesterday. Did pretty good for the second attempt I think. Got my son on his first walleye and caught 5 total and added 7 perch as well. Nothing big, but some good fish and chips are in the future.
