so let me get this straight, you CAN carry a concealed weapon if you are going to or from your hunting/fishing or camping grounds???loaded or unloaded????I asked a cop cause this has been buggin me for a while now.He told me to put it in the glove box???I asked if it would be better to put an unloaded gun in plain sight like the dash and he told me no that would make an officer freak..I'm soo lost please help guys...

The answer is yes. And the cop dosent have a clue...it's not considered a concealed weapon if its unloaded. Thats why you can transport them around unloaded without a CWP. Like if you move. Or leave the gunsmith or gun shop. The minute its loaded and hidden, its a concealed weapon.

I do what the voices in my tackle box tell me to.

Never ask a cop about a point of law.  They will tell you what they want you to do, not what you are allowed to do.

Yahoo, I will finally be legal :IBCOOL: I have carried a sidearm for years while bow hunting, my choice has always been a Ruger Black Hawk in 41 mag with a 6 3/4 barrel. I want to be able to shoot most if not all 5 and have a chance of hitting it while it is running at me, to do that I may need to start shooting at 40 yards. I know it actually hold six but I will save the last one for myself just in case. :yike: :yike:

I normally carry either a 44mag or 45 acp. My 44 is a S&W 629 classic with a 5" barrel and I carry either a kimber ultra carry or my new XD now. The 44 has 240gr gold dots in it and the 45 has 230gr black talons, I figure if I cant stop someone or an animal with 14rd's of 45 or 6rd's of 44 then I think I have it coming.

A 357 is a great cal and the ruger sp100 is a hell of a gun, but with full house 357 loads its kind of punishing and very loud. I have a pic I will have to post of my dad shooting his at night :o

I have an old cop gun, a S&W model 66 w/4'' barrel I purchased from a deputy sheriff in 1982. That should give a tummy ache to a cougar or meth cook I might run across. Why buy anything else?   :twocents:

I carry a springfield xd in 9mm

I really don't feel like 16 bullets in 9mm won't stop a black bear or a cougar. my 2 cents

Since you are not concerned with "style" I would second the revolver suggestions in .357 in a short barrel (2 to 4 inches).  Revolvers essentially do not malfunction or jam which is important for the application you mentioned.  It is unlikely you'll need 10+ rounds from an auto...

I'll take my .357 made by J.P.sauer&sohn. It is a single six with a six inch barrel. Made in Western Germany. I got this by luck. I went to one of my favorate gun shops and was just looking at the pistols in the cabinet and the owner asked if he could help. Everything was marked $250 and up and I told him I wanted a reliable gun for a $100. He pulled this gun out and said deal. Then I had to buy it but it, would have been dumb not to. I was just there to look so remember, gun stores do give a great deal every now and then.
This closet is taken- go find your own
