Bicycle gear?
« on: June 30, 2017, 03:26:18 PM »
Curious where you guys buy your bike gear at. Trying to use my bike more this year for hunting and want to get it set up better. Im in need of tube, maybe a light and couple other things. Not looking for a place to buy spandex like those guys on the side of the highways! :chuckle:

REI is pretty good to get all that stuff plus you get dividends at the end of the year.

I would buy a pair of spandex biking shorts with a good crotch pad to get me in and out of where I want to hunt.
You can always take them off when you get to your spot.
Buy at your local bike store or at Performancebike.com.

The spandex shorts will be you're friend. I did a 35 mile bike trip and refused the bike shorts. You can always wear something over it if you don't like the look.

Once you get over the idea that the padded undershorts feel a bit like a diaper, it's easy to see how awesome they are.  I wear normal shorts over them, they keep everything in place without me looking like a spandex warrior.

As far as bike shops...

These guys set me up right.  They have a guy who can set up your bike for your size, getting your pedal stroke and posture correct for less fatigue and less chance of injury.  I have a bad knee, they sized out my bike so the knee never fully extends or bends and I'm still in a good upright position, and it's helped me out a lot.  I think it was about $100 to have them do everything, and was $$$ well spent to me.

Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen.”
