Goat rocks
« on: June 28, 2017, 07:38:35 PM »
Hey everyone i was able to draw a goat rocks tag and hoped to talk to people that have experience in there. Hopefully some of you that have hunted it the past couple years  can help with access, advice, numbers you have seen. This site is awesome that way and good look to everyone on this years hunts.

I got one too. That's 2 of the 5 tags accounted for.

I have been in there a lot, pretty much if you get above timberline you will be in lots of goats. I have lots of info, but I can't get you in there. I would contact kent with white pass outfitters, he has lots knowledge as well as very helpfull. And can get you set up in there. But if you want more info from me your welcome to pm me

I was there Sunday and it wasn't bad. I'm pretty sure the smoke has gotten worse since then though.

Everyone
I wanted to send a huge thankyou to all the people that offered help for my goat rocks tag. It was a very tuff but exciting hunt. Jachelope hooked up with us for the first part of the hunt in some really tuff weather. We hunted for 12 days straight with snow or rain almost every day. Had to quickly move camp out of the high country due to a second storm but through a great family of friends who set me up another camp before my first was completly hiked out so I didn't miss a day of hunting. With all that weather the first day we had sunshine we found a great goat and sealed the deal. The only thing i can say is this was nothing more than a team win. Plus i met some new friends from the site. I can tell you one thing, you want to know who your buddies are, draw a goat tag and see who shows up. Great experience with great friends and i cant say thankyou enough to everyone. Cant wait to return the favor to the next guy.

Resizing is the key to post pics here, if you have an iPhone screen shot it then selects attachments, screenshots from camera.

Hope you don’t mind...

I have vertigo, and often feel dizzy.  When I looked at these pictures, I thought I was going to tip over.  There is definitely something wrong with your camera, Jackelope, it makes it look like the trees are growing sideways.

Focus on the trees! They’re straight up and down.

Oh it was very vertical. We actually used ropes to get down to the goat. I have all the respect in the world for these animals. It was crazy that we were pushing snow with the horses chest then two and a half weeks later there was no snow. Crazy weather for sure. Who ever draws this tag next year don't hesitate to contact me we have learned so much to pass on to the next OIL  holder.
