Amusing Nosler story
« on: June 28, 2017, 09:44:45 PM »
Not sure if this is the right section to post.  And was debating whether to post it publicly as it's just a little story.  But in today's politically correct world, what the heck.

I was competing in Bend last weekend at the Pacific Crest Endurance event as part of my training to be ready for fall hunting season.  Saw a volunteer in the transition area with a Nosler hat on.  Asked him if he worked there (as they were founded in Bend).  Yep.  His job is to test the ammo in the custom rifles.  He shoots all day, and does reports on the results in the custom rifles for the Nosler factory ammo and bullets. Told him that's my dream job. "Who do I have to sleep with for THAT job?" (rather loudly, as I am wont to do)

This cute blonde steps up next to me, also with a Nosler hat on, and says "that would be me, I'm the daughter what did you have in mind".  Me blushing.....   Great response to my likely inappropriate loud statement, although my idiot brain immediately thought of another inappropriate comment.....but I just laughed.  Pretty sure that was Jill the granddaughter based on her face, but not sure as I didn't ask specifics having just put my foot in my mouth.

But gotta love the sense of humor, especially in today's politically correct climate.  Her timing was awesome...absolutely perfect.  I'm still laughing.  And I love that Nosler is volunteering at a local event for their community, with no real benefit as I'm fairly certain I was one of the few hunters at that event.  And if she wasn't messing with me, it was the owners daughter (technically granddaughter I guess) and other employees volunteering at an event that benefited the community but not really their company. Gotta respect that support for the community.  As a long time Oregonian prior to moving to Washington, I was always a Nosler fan.  But sometimes the little stuff like this keeps reminding me to spend money on the local companies.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Yeah, great story.  One way to make the story even better would be to add a pic of the cute blonde.  :)
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

, that is a great event weekend. Participated for a couple years while I was down there. There was a great group of dudes that ran the 10K and 5K in kilts. Rad dudes.

Yeah wish I had my phone with me for a photo with her.

The Pacific Crest weekend is getting crazy busy with 20 events now and over 5,000 competitors.  It was hotter this year than normal. But is a good fitness test point for my preparation, with another race event planned in August to make sure I'm ready for the fall backcountry hunting seasons start.

Between Washington and Oregon I have six backcountry hunts planned (one of them a 10 day trip where I'll be rather loaded down with supplies) so need to be ready.  Next week I start the 5x per week walks with 50lb pack.
