License Fee Increase Bill for 09
« on: February 25, 2009, 12:21:27 PM »
On Feb 23rd HB 6084 was introduced by Pridemore and Tom.  Overall proposal is right at 20% overall.  Better all get on the horn for one more BS thing the policitians are trying.

I think all of us hunters should not hunt for a year, or wait until the last minute to buy our licences. This would send a strong message that were fed up . >:(

I have seen two recent reports that state that there have not been any increases since
(1) 1994 (2) 1997.

Not sure which, if either are true or not. :dunno:

I think they should increase fees for hunting and fishing licenses, but especially fishing. They must spend more time/resources on fish than they do wildlife. But either way I will support this. I suppose I should send a letter of support. The WDFW is already laying off at least 100 people, this week. Let's at least give them the funding they need to keep the ones that remain.

I dont mind paying a bit more IF they have not been increased in sometime. I have a buddy who is looking at the axe from the WDFW...which really sucks. Dont get me wrong, I dont like paying what I pay now, but if it hasnt been increased in over 10 years, I dont mind so much.

I'd pay a little more but the opportunities in this state are not superb and they should be smart about what they do. Something which I do not have great faith in. That being - Government Agencies making wise business decisions. I agree they should strive for more money from the fishing license. Too much might turn away fishermen though.

I can understand raising the prices of fishing licenses because they allow you to fish for all freshwater species.  However, raising the prices of hunting licenses is kinda ridiculous considering there are tags for individual species.

If there were more people working in the field, than there was working in an office i would support it.
But what will happen is a license increase and the people in the office that have no clue what is going on will decide where the money will be spent. When it is the bios and field agents that should be running the WDFW not some idiot with a doctorate that thinks they know how to manage people.

This is tied directly with the proposed changes to the seasons they put forward.  Rifle hunters are the largest group so they figure they can make the most money from them.  You watch, the fee for permit apps alone will double after they approve the seasons in the next two days.

I wouldn't have a problem paying higher license fees if the agency was a non-appropriated agency, but every dime we spend on licenses and tags goes to the general fund.  This state, at the direction of the queen and those before her has never managed for the resource, only the dollars.
