Public access for GMU 658 North River
« on: July 06, 2017, 03:09:59 PM »
Is a permit required to hunt in that unit or is some of it open to the general public. Or are there sources that give the information where is hunting is available without a permit?

There is public land in there, use an app like OnXmaps to find owner information or go to the county website and use their map.
I know I've lost it, let me know if you come across it

To be honest I wouldn't waste my Time in there for deer. There are a few nice bucks in there but unless you plan on scouting ALOT I would hunt else where  :twocents:

Hancock had ALOT of ground in the North River unit. No access fee either, just have to walk in from the gates. They have the white gates, mostly on the west side of highway 101.

Seems like they have a high success rate for deer in there

Hike or Bike only in the 658. gates everywhere.  There is access through Hancock, Campbell Global, State land, and county land.  I have a Hancock gate right by my house so I spend a lot of time on their property, I usually bike in about 3 miles before I consider myself "hunting".  not a ton of deer like I see up the 648 (Wynoochee) but I have seen some nice bucks come out of this unit.  I have the 658 Buck Tag this year so I can hunt Nov 1-19th   :chuckle:

Majority if not all of the timber companies have posted on the gates "No camping"   You'd have to stay at a state park or RV camp ground.
