If you stumbled through the shed section about two or three weeks ago, you may have seen my post about titled "Huge Front Fork" of a shed I found with...a huge front fork. Well, turns out the deer was shot this year. Looking at the maps, its not hard to figure out the deer's probable migration route. And its pretty cool to get together and make the complete story like this. I just with I would have found the other side so I could have given him both antlers. Here are all the pics. Jason will post the live and dead pics he has.

The buck grew something like 9 inches on his left side from last year to this year.

I was thinking the same thing I'm not entirely sold it's the same deer but the same genes???

They are both very nice BTW.

What makes you think that isn't the shed from the year before. Looks like it is a match to me.

All though they are similar, as are most mule deer, there are a few distinguishable differences in the two that I can see, but like I said it was just my

This deer is my biggest buck ever. It was shot in the upper Kittitas County at 419yds at noon on the opening day of the 2008 general firearm season. I had spotted this buck during bear season and kept tabbs on him 2-3 times per week until opening day. He scores 177 1/4 and is 26" inches wide. After joining this site I came across a shed found by josh that looked to be really familiar. He came over today and we both agreed that it was the same deer. They both have the same small points coming off of the base of the antlers and a "S" shape to the G2. And being the great guy Josh is he decided to give me the shed antler! In exchange for the antler I agreed to take him to my bear spot this coming season. Thanks again Josh. The first couple of pics or in the field and the last is through my spotting scope at about a mile.

Yep, I think the "S" being identical on the back fork and the two little points at the base being in the same spot is a pretty good give away. Its really hard to tell from the pictures, I know. I wasn't convinced until we matched them up live today. The G4 bends in the same spot at the same angle too. The deer was shot at the upper end of the drainage, and the shed was found at pretty much the lowest spot of that drainage. Its the same deer.

That is one of the differences I was going to point out. The shed looks to be stait compared to the mount g2, maybe its the angle of the camera?

The other, that I thought was a dead give away was the little devil points on the base of the shed, it doesnt appear that they are there on the mount and those rae the type of points that dont go away. Are they being hidden by the hair on the mount?

Its the camera angle. The S is the same in both. And yes, those little devil points are there, in the same spot on the burr as on the shed. On the shed they are like 3/4" and 1/2" maybe, while on the mount they are both around 1/2"
They are just hidden by the hair, like you said

No worries. Without looking at both of them in person, it is kindof hard to tell. But there is really no doubt when you do. And I'm not going to give away the biggest shed of my life if there was any doubt and try to make some cool story out of nothing. A 70" horn on public land is hard thing to part with.

Hey I wasn't trying to start anything looking at the pics I noticed immediately the G-4 and the points coming off the base looked different. In the second pic the g-4 looks to be curving Forward and out & in the third pic it's curving way forward and I couldn't see the points off the base in any of them!!! And as far as the last pic I didn't even see that one did you ad it later? It may just be the way you are holding it but based on those pics there as Huntnphool said that wouldn't be enough to go on. That's a tremendous buck for sure congrats and one cool story looks like now you two should make a little shed hunting trip to get the match!

Dang cool story Josh. Maybe you can find some fresh shed from some of that bucks relatives. Then you can keep tabs on him this year. Seems you do a pretty good job up there keeping tabs on those bucks.

I can keep tabs on the little guys like I keep shooting, the big guys not so much. Haven't graduated to being a trophy hunter yet. This year we had way less snow, so I think the fresh sheds might be higher up??? But remember, there aren't any big bucks in Washington
