Hippo Skull arrived
« on: July 13, 2017, 08:09:11 AM »
Got my hippo skull back from my trip last year.  Put a small White-tail fork in-front of it for size comparison.  Getting the tusks back in will take some time as they have expanded a bit in the past year.

That's going to look cool with the dark staining on the tusks and the white skull.

So the full box weighed in at 86 pounds.  I am figuring it is a bit over 75 after you take out the cardboard and packing materials.

Funny story.  the box was damaged in shipping so the FedEx driver had me come out and look at it before I signed for it.  He drug it out and asked if it was fragile.  I said "It's a skull so it is a little fragile"  He looked at me and said, "One skull?"  Made me chuckle.

It took two of us to haul it to the front door!

Do you think maybe if you freeze the tusks they'll fit in better they might shrink

Curious how you will mount that monster?
Very cool.

I don't think freezing them will help.  Tusks have a tendency to split when they dry out, so that is what I am dealing with.

I am going to just set the skull on the floor, I think it will work well there.

For the hippo, I am going to mount it as though it was sitting in the water, coming out of the floor. Similar to the attached
