Places to camp in Little Naches?
« on: August 03, 2017, 06:51:33 PM »
Finally going to make it up to Little Naches to scout for my muzzy tag and will be pulling the 23' TT to keep my 3 year old boy cool in the hot weather.  Never been up in the area before but I see a lot of NF campgrounds along 410 and the 19 Rd from my maps.  Unfortunately, it looks like most of those are reservable and taken up for the weekend.  I'm looking to base camp somewhere off the 19 Rd. or the main arteries that branch off the main road.  I don't like to blindly go up unmaintained roads pulling a TT but if I was to head up the 1708, 1902, 1921, 1906 would a guy be ok in finding a decent camp spot or at least a place to turn around in?  Any recommendations either way on where to head or steer clear of?

If you see a silver, F150 with an IAFF sticker on the canopy from Friday through Monday up there, feel free to flag me down or stop by camp for a beer!

If you are looking for a regular campsite with showers and stuff, check out Elk Ridge.  I just booked there for my next scouting trip and it looks pretty good.  The only problem is that it is at the far east edge of the unit, so it depends on where you are scouting.

If you want to pm me, I'll be there scouting during your opener if you happen to need help packing anything out.

Thanks for the replies.  Having never been there and going solo with my 2 1/2 y/o son, I had some small concerns.  After going, I realize how easy it is to find a camping spot.  We had a great time, made some fun memories.  My bud brought his son out for one night too.  I pushed it as hard as I could and Easton was a trooper.  We drove a lot of country to just learn the lay of the land and made it a point to go for a small hike each morning and evening as the temps cooled down.  I've got two more 5 day trips planned in September, both with my boy, and am looking forward to piecing it together.  Doing this with my boy is really fulfilling and will make my hunt even more special.

Stein, please do!

Finally figured out how to post some pictures.  I'm sure you dad's can relate to how special it is to share your passions with your kids.

Were you up there today, or did you already head back down? I was up there early this morning and went up a couple of the roads and on a decent little hike.

I'm getting excited for Sept 30th!!!
Wishing I was fishing...or in Wyoming

No, I was up there 4th-6th.  I'll be up there again early in September and also the week before the muzzy hunt begins.  The 30th will be here before we know it!
