Full choke and slugs

Might be a dumn question, but can you shoot slugs out of a full choke 12 gauge?

I would have to say you would be safer to shoot a slug out of an improved or modified cylinder if you have those chokes and you shotgun is not a fixed full choke.  The reason being is that the full choke is used to compact lead shot more so than the other two chokes stated, allowing a tighter pattern of shot.  When using slugs, there is no reason to compact the projectile, as the slug is already a compresses mass of lead.  So if you can, I would say try to use an improved or modified cylinder (if possible) to allow more space for the slug to pass through.

i wouldn't shoot slugs out of any shotgun barrel with changeable chokes, and definitely not out of a fixed full choke barrel.

Why not with the screw in chokes? Remington even sells a choke tube specifically for shooting slugs:

i guess i could have clarified...i was talking about the i/c, mod, full chokes that were mentioned. thats a neat choke idea if it works.

I think a choke tube in Improved Cylinder would be fine as well, but I guess it would be best to check with Remington or read the owner's manual to be sure.

I've shot lots of slugs out of fixed full choke shotguns, no problems.  Some are more accurate than others.

No worries shooting slugs out of a full,  I would not use an extra full or superfull.  A buddy has put maubye 100 rnds. through his 870 with a full and has never once had a problem.  Are you looking to big game hunt with it?

Well what kinda velocity will I get out of a slug.

Remington 12 ga 2 3/4 1oz slug 1560fps. Just happen to have a box right here in front of me.

It depends on what you kind you shoot. Are you planning on hunting big game with it?

I have never shot them out of a full choke, but they work fine in my modified choked 870.
