They should auction off tags to help fund the park's services. They could likely bring in $100s of thousands from just 4 or 5. It would also likely save that amount in helicopter sniper time.

There are 600 goats in the park. You could auction off 50 tags nationwide and fund the entire rest of the project with money left over.

That's a great idea. Problem is they made it public now all the tree huggers want to see them transferred safely. Which I am ok with as long as its to an area I can then apply for a OIL permit.

I agree AS LONG AS the tree huggers pay for the transfer!

I'm all for transferring the goats to augment and increase other herds.

Yep move them and bolster the herds, totally agree. I think that is the best answer and a win for everyone.  Heck I would be willing to chip in money to help the move.

The park tried to move them once before and the greenies shut it down, about 25 years ago.  They used helicopters and tranquilizers.  The helicopters would lower a harness to the goat and fly them off.  Greenies said it was too dangerous and was causing psychological damage to goats.

It did cause psychological damage to the goats! It turned then into killers!

Move em to the Cascades herds. Could help speed up more hunting opportunities.

Maybe they could first dart the greenies, harness them up, and fly them back to CA. Just a thought.

Because it's a national park it won't happen, but they should have a country wide raffle to hunt set number of goats, use that money to transplant he rest into areas in Washington.
 What will happen is they will use our tax money to pay a professional to come early shoot x number of goats and more tax money to transplant  them out of state.

The goats are thriving in the Olympics why does the state want to eradicate them from an area that they are doing good in. Someone was killed by a wild animal and they are jumping to such extremes. It cracks me up that they say they are not native to the Olympics. Mountain goats are native to the Northwestern part of the United States. Its not like they were introduced into another continent. There are only 3500 goats in the whole state, the conservationist in me says help them thrive and maybe someday our grandchildren will have goats to kill when they spill outside of the park.
Or let us hunt 25 of them a year inside the park and it will create a more natural relationship between animals with hooves and those of us with thumbs.
