So I'm a newish hunter (3rd year). Was from a Non-hunter background. As green as they come. Found this forum. Asked a few questions. After the 4th question, I only lurk now. I received no useful info in the public part. There were a few members that sent pm's which I am greatful for. Good info and I met good people. Like a lot of members already said: bashing, put downs, low blows, etc Harvested my first and only animal last year (a doe) and didnt even want to post here... Hope to see the changes! Thanks!

I use my real name on every forum to check myself; as self-regulation, to keep me in-line. Requiring real names in profiles might discourage some bad behavior. Keep "cool" handles/avatars, but have real names in users' profiles. I have no instance where using my real name compromised my privacy. For me, personal responsibility is more important than the privacy of using a screen name. Some of us work in places where we don't want ou full name out there. IT could be dangerous to our family or ourselves if people know exactly who we were and could just google us on a forum . I for one would not want some of my previous clientele finding my full name on HW and then using it for devious means. Not that my name is not out there in the world and easy to track down. I just would not want to to be out there or any more than is necessary. Wow!Personnel accountability, what an outstanding concept! You Sir are a rarity Thanks.I agree, a person should not have to hide behind a screen name and it probably facilitates some members saying things they might not otherwise say. However, unfortunately, we live in a society, especially those in urban western WA where if it was known that a person was an active hunter it could hurt their professional position. I'm in total agreement that the forum would be a better place if users names were their real names. But the forum cannot require real names due to the issues it could cause in the work place for some members. Thanks for being an upstanding member!

We have nuked two today already. Its not a bragging thing, just a point that the crud has to stop, and we aren't going to argue about it. Negotiations are over.....

This is why I could never be a Mod,I would wake up some morning and before my first cup of coffee, I would nuke 1,2, or 100 just because
I guess I'd like to see a place (forum section) where you had to make a certain number of posts (not off topic posts) to gain access. It would help ensure that outsiders don't see some of your secret data. It might be a safe place to offer advice on special hunts or areas when people felt like it was pertinent. I don't mind sharing tips about a special hunt spot with a small group of interested applicants as long as I receive some help in return, but I don't really want to share it on the general net for someone to google search. Not trying to get exclusive, just want to make sure people are roughly giving some as they take some.

I don't want to point fingers at anyone on the forum or who has left, I simply want to make this a better place for everyone. It would be painting with a wide brush to think all who have left are the "good ones" as some posts seem to suggest. I think plenty of the "good ones" have stayed and still participate and enjoy the forum. My efforts are meant to benefit everyone who wants to enjoy this forum and to eliminate the negative atmosphere that turns off most of the members. I'm not going to the effort for any particular group, this is for the benefit of everyone who wants to participate.
