Grouse, with .22?

Pretty much all I used growing up.  Still use a .22 if I'm not big game hunting.

I normally use the 20 gauge barrel on my TC Encore system.  I have one of those rare 20 smooth bore barrels.  If I can I use my favorite gun of all time which would be the CZ 452 FS.  Can take the head off a grouse every time within 60 yards.

My all time favorite grouse gun!
I also use a Single six, and a SP101, but the 22/45 is my favorite.

This year I'll also be packing my new to me Savage 22/20.

When i was 15 I spent two months worth of berry picking money to buy a brand new Savage model 24DL 22LR/20GA 3" chamber.  I shot the head off of a lot of grouse with open sights and that gun when I was a kid.    Rarely used the 20GA, 'cause even though I was deadly with the rifle I couldn't hit anything with the shotgun.     It's still in the safe, but I don't use it any more.

Between the two of us we have one good gun. I can't hit much with the .22 barrel on my 24.

Probably use my ruger mark III now that it finally got bloody. It's the only gun I have successfully killed anything with. 

My fear with grouse is actually my own death, it's pretty rare I see those things until they are flushing right under my feet.

Of course my dad using .22 bird shot killed a grouse a few times with his .22 pistol. If I did it I'd take my dads old .22 rifle loaded with bird shot and LR.
